Over the weekend I had the pleasure of experiencing Brunch at Green Gamut. I am no stranger to Green Gamut as I have always enjoyed their healthy choices, great prices, and hefty portions. But since moving into their new location in Port Lucaya, they just started Brunch every Saturday and Sunday between the hours of 9:30 am- 7 pm.
LOCATION & DECOR
I must say I LOVE the new location! It’s cozy, warm, welcoming, and inviting. The glass all around gives you natural sunlight and the rustic decor gives me a very relaxed and chill vibe. Although space is limited inside, their outside deck gives you the option to get some fresh air while enjoying your Brunch.
COFFEE, COFFEE, COFFEE!
First, I started out my brunch with a Latte, due to the cold weather that decided to pass through. The coffee was rich and balanced. It wasn’t too strong or overly aromatic but just right! I was literally in coffee heaven! The staff was extremely personable and friendly and even the owner was able to sit and have a few words with me.
The Brunch Menu was SUPERB, having a great variety of breakfast options, gluten-free and Keto options, and even your standard Bahamian Breakfast (Boil/ Stew Fish and Johnny Cake). There was truly something for everyone on this menu. I also loved the add-on options of Avocado, Organic eggs, or Veggie Sausage to your meals.
I chose the Avocado Toast with smoked salmon on top and the French Toast with caramelized walnuts and coconut. Needless to say that when both came out I didn’t know what to start with first. I decided to appease my palette with the sweet option first. The French Toast was soft and the spices really came through. It wasn’t drowning in syrup which I liked because I am not a big fan of syrup (I feel it overpowers whatever it goes on). The walnuts and coconut were a great combination on top of the fluffy toast.
THE STAR OF THE SHOW
The portion size was great and after a few bites, I put it to the side and decided to dig into my Avocado Toast. I absolutely LOVE Avocado. I can eat it on anything and with anything. So I was excited to taste and it did not disappoint. The smooth creamy texture of the Avocado mixed with the smoky flavor of the salmon and acidic components of the tomato and onion on top really made this dish the standout to me. Every bite was better than the last and I wish it didn’t have to end.
WHAT’S BRUNCH WITHOUT MIMOSA’S?
To finish my brunch I ordered one of the signature house special Mimosa’s. It was a combination of real coconut water, straight out of the coconut and champagne, and let me tell you, this was a combination I didn’t know I needed in my life! The bubbly champagne with the coconut aftertaste was an experience in itself. It was so good I ordered another one.
To wrap it all up, Green Gamut has a real gem with their Brunch menu. From the chill ambiance, great music, friendly staff, and AMAZING food with gluten-free and keto options, this is definitely a spot you NEED to visit if you live in Freeport or visiting. I will surely be back to try something new on their brunch menu as much as I can. I can definitely see this becoming a normal hangout spot for me.
