Mother’s day was yesterday and after days of viewing menus, my family and I decided to do something different. We chose to visit the Westside Grille at Old Bahama Bay in West End.
For those that may not know, West End is actually the capital of Grand Bahama. It is quite a drive from Freeport to West End but as we say – West End is the Best End.
The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. It made me feel like I wasn’t even home, more like I was on vacation. We walked towards the marina at the resort and found a cute little restaurant tucked away. The hostess was very welcoming and was quick to assist us with seating. The buffet-style arrangement was at the side of the entrance with a pasta station (which I thought was really neat).
We sat down by the window with a beautiful view of the dock and yachts. Immediately, I started with a light plate of appetizers (salad, pasta salad, crab and conch salad, quinoa, and couscous salad). All of them were VERY good but my favorite was the Quinoa Salad. It’s rare that you would see some of these appetizers on a buffet menu so I was pleased that there was only ONE menu that offered such an interesting variety.
Now it was time for the main course. There was a choice of peas and rice or garlic mash potato, Spinach and cheese stuffed chicken breast, maple balsamic pork loin, grouper in caper butter sauce, and for sides, we got steamed veggies or corn on the cob. It was so much to choose from so I got a little bit of everything on my plate. The grouper was soft and tender and the caper butter sauce just took it straight over the edge for me. Also, the stuffed chicken breast was very tender and packed with flavor.
“I’ll be back!”
Our choice for desserts ranged from mini carrot, red velvet, chocolate cakes, brownies, and pineapple or strawberry parfaits. The desserts were a nice finishing touch. Overall, Westside Grille is definitely a hidden gem on the island of Grand Bahama. You can be sure to look out for a Tasty with Kc episode about this place in the near future!
