Here is my MUST TRY list of things when visiting Nassau, Bahamas:
YES! Its Switcharific is homemade lemonade. I had the privilege of trying this drink out while at the swimming nationals held in the capital city of New Providence. It was perfectly proportioned with sweet and tangy, refreshing, and exactly what is needed on a hot summer day in July. It comes in four different flavors (Lime, Strawberry, Ginger, and Berry Fusion). My personal favorite was the Ginger. I learned through speaking with the co-founder Erika Robinson, that not only do they have beverages but also produce homemade butter! Their products are sold at all the major food stores on the island and you can check their website out right > here
Lioness Sushi on the go is located at Arawak Cay. I went to try her Jalapeno Popper Sushi. Her sushi menu was extremely out of the box. The ingredients she used in her sushi were very native to The Bahamas such as Plantain, Pineapple, Coconut, Conch, and Toasted Bennie. I ordered a Lioness Roll as well which consisted of Asparagus, Avocado, Cream Cheese Roll, Deep Fried with Baked Salmon, Scallions, and Eel Sauce. Surprisingly, my favorite was the Jalapeno Popper Sushi as it wasn’t as fussy as the Lioness Roll. I recommend trying her out for yourself to taste the creative flavor combinations. Another restaurant I enjoyed during my time in Nassau was Swimming Pigs Gastropub. I was able to catch their brunch menu on Sunday. I got their Fish Tacos which were average. What made me really like this place was the setting and the décor. It gave me an upscale sports bar vibe with large TVs showing sports. I felt comfortable relaxing and unwinding here for an hour or more.
Margaritaville Beach Resort is an island getaway! This hotel located at The Pointe on Bay Street has so much to offer. Restaurants, water parks, an adult bar, and a top-floor club are all amenities that are worth staying here. Not to mention the view on your balcony is breathtaking overlooking the beach and the marina. Take a look at their website > here
Another hotel that I highly recommend is Bahamar. This property has three hotels on it (Grand Hyatt, SLS Baha Mar, and the Rosewood). On top of a world-class casino, lots of restaurants, shops, and activities this hotel is a MUST! There wasn’t much time in my trip to explore them both fully but I am sure to make a blog about both hotels in depth later on. To put in a reservation click > here
A definite must-try activity would be to book a tour of the waters. I booked with Cash Money Water Sports and was able to view the beautiful island of New Providence by boat. They pulled up to Cabbage Beach located on Paradise Island to get tropical drinks from the beach bar. The last stop was a floating bar named Hideaway that had a scrumptious shrimp Caesar Salad along with the house drinks which were colorful and strong. The boat dropped me back at my hotel (Margaritaville).
Another MUST TRY activity was definitely Privilege Pool at SLS Bahamar. This exclusive daytime pool is outfitted with cabanas, a stage, a private bar, and decent bar food. Depending on the week they sometimes host concerts around the pool and usually always have a DJ poolside on weekends. It’s best to book your reservation online as daybeds, lounge chairs, pergolas, and cabana suites usually go pretty fast. Also, the price range for this activity starts at about $300.
